The summit of Hochgern is rightly called the local mountain of the Achental. Therefore, numerous visitors also come to this magnificent viewpoint with views of the Chiemsee to the north and the numerous peaks of the Central Alps to the south. Just as numerous are the possibilities to climb this viewing platform. However, at this point, we want to suggest an ascent and a circular route on and over the Hochgern which is very rarely found in the many route suggestions and can rightly be called a insider tip. A very interesting, demanding, and rather rarely used route over the summit of Silleck up to Hochgern and on the way back over the summits of Zwölferspitz and Hochlerch back to the starting point.

Descent on the north side to the cozy Staudacher Alm, then down through the great Alplbachtal back to the parking lot in Staudach. A treat of a route!

The beautiful ascent of Hochplatte from Achental is possible relatively early in the hiking season due to its southern exposure. And even in autumn, the paths remain good to walk on for a long time.
