The trail leads through flower meadows and along lakes before the steep, gravelled ascent begins. The summit of the Rastkogel (2,762 m) is only a few metres away from the trail. The descent is via the Hoarbergjoch and Wangalm past the Penken. There is a cable car station at Penken for the descent to Finkenberg.

    Schöne Tour mit aussichtsreichem Gipfel. Da wir die Abzweigung übersahen, gingen wir den Weg in entgegengesetzer Richtung. Größtes Manko hierbei: Fehlende Wegmarkierung & -ausschilderung für diese Strecke hinter dem Gipfel. Der Grat ist relativ breit und somit auch mit etwas Höhenangst gut zu bewältigen. Trittsicherheit ist erforderlich, die Nutzung von Wanderstöcken zu empfehlen. "Gefahrenpotential" m. E. 2-3 von 6.

    Der Weg ist eine gelungene Bergvariante hinüber ins Zillertal. Zumal man "bei gutem Wetter" erste schöne Blicke auf die Zillertaler Alpen erhaschen dürfte. Wir wandern durch ein bizarres Felsgestein an kleinen Bergsehen entlang und steigen dann über Wiesenpfade hinab bis zur Seilbahnstation. Dort sind wir wieder in der Zivilisation angekommen.

    Eine kurze, aber dennoch schöne Wanderstrecke um von Hochfügen hinüber zur Rastkogelhütte zu gelangen. Gute Variante bei ungünstigen Witterungsbedingungen, wenn man nicht den Forstweghatscher durchs Tal machen möchte. Bei gutem Wetter halte ich ebenfalls die Gipfelvariante für eine optimale Strecke. Allerdings würde ich nicht über die Holzalm Hochleger wandern. Sondern von dieser hier gewählten Strecke erst bei der Viertelalm (2022) weiter aufsteigen. Bis hierher hat man vergleichssweise schöne Wege im Gegensatz zu den breiten Ziehwegen zur Hochlegeralm und darüber hinaus. Hinter der Viertelalm kann man sich dann noch entscheiden, ob man sich Richtung Marchkopf hält oder zum Gipfel Seewand steigt. Von dort dann über das Kreuzjoch zum Ziel.

    Ein Aufstieg der sich auf jeden Fall lohnt. Die Aussicht oben am Gipfel ist genial . Der Abstieg erfordert hohe Trittsicherheit.
