The Schafluckensteig was opened in August 1920 and is one of the most scenic ascents to Brunnkogel and Hochleckenhaus. Despite the existing rope protections, surefootedness and a head for heights are absolutely necessary.
Since 1970, the alpine club local group Neukirchen an der Vöckla has been responsible for the maintenance and restoration work on the Schafluckensteig, now for 50 years.
