Crossing the Alps through the quiet mountain regions of our Alps. In Füssen, after the Marienbrück at Neuschwanstein Castle, the peace begins. In the Grundbachtal with Heiterwang and Bichlbach, civilization caught up with us again to find peace after the Wolfratshausener Hut in the Mieming Alps. After crossing the densely populated Inn valley, it becomes quieter and more lonely in the Sellrain mountains. The Stubai Alps are only heavily frequented at well-known points like Dresdner Hut or Nuremberg and Ravensburg Hut. On the way down to the Eislach valley, past Meran and up to the Mendel Pass, only the valley floor of the Vinschgau is densely populated. After the Mendel Pass and along the east side of the Brenta, it becomes quiet down to Lake Ledro. Our destination, Limone sul Garda, lies on the quieter west side of Lake Garda.

The Peace Trail (Sentiro della Pace) was established in the mid-20th century on the paths of the Alpine War. The Alpine War between the Kingdom of Italy and the original allies Austria and Germany from 1915 to 1917 is one of Europe's dark chapters. Along the trail, many old fortifications are traversed, showing the futility of war and the immense suffering that the war brought to the people of South Tyrol and Trento.
