Zeller Hut
Built in 1901, this mountain hut is located along the traditional route to the Warscheneck summit (2,388 m), on European Long-Distance Hiking Trail No. 4 and the Kalkalpenweg, surrounded by a unique larch forest and unspoiled nature.
The Alpine Club hut of the Windischgarsten section has been expanded and modernized several times in recent years and is now considered one of the most beautiful huts in Austria. Small, bright dormitories and the new double rooms make an overnight stay at the hut an unforgettable, relaxing experience. (See online reservations.) From the two cozy dining rooms and the west and east terraces, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountain giants Priel and Spitzmauer, as well as the Sengsen and Reichraming back mountains, and the Windischgarsten and Stodertal valleys.
The hut’s cuisine features regional and carefully selected ingredients, and hearty hut specialties are prepared with or without meat. The homemade quark and apple strudel is renowned far beyond the state’s borders and is a must-try on the menu.
The path to the hut is charmingly decorated with carvings by Siegi, and the hiking trails are well-marked. The ascents from the hut to the Schallerkogel, Lagelsberg, and Warscheneck are relatively safe, but they do require some stamina, good physical condition, and favorable weather.
We look forward to your visit
