Lage
Die auf dem Gaislochboden der Raxalpe gelegene, ganzjährig offene Unterstandshütte des ÖTK steht am Schnittpunkt des Weges Otto-Haus - Praterstern - Hofhalt - Klobentörl - sowie Weichtalhaus - Höllental - Gaisloch.
Waldbrandgefahr
In den letzten Jahren wurde im Bereich der Hütte mehrfach illegal ein Lagerfeuer entzunden. Aufgrund der gesetzlichen Lage (Forstgesetz, Waldbrandverordnung) ist es strengstens verboten, ein Lagerfeuer zu entzünden. Bitte bedenke, dass von einem Lagerfeuer ein hohes Waldbrandrisiko ausgeht.
Hüttenchronik
Sie wurde im Jahre 1914 durch die alpine Gesellschaft "D´ Holzknecht" errichtet und nach dem Landtagsabgeordneten Wolfgang Dirnbacher dem Älteren, benannt. Wolfgang Dirnbacher war langjähriger Hüttenwart der Alpinen Gesellschaft "D´ Holzknecht". Nachdem sie im Januar 1954 abgebrannt war, wurde sie noch im gleichen Jahr von der ÖTK-Sektion "D'Höllentaler Holzknecht" wieder aufgebaut. Seit 1966 befindet sie sich in Verwaltung der Zentrale Wien des Österreichischen Touristenklubs. Im Oktober 2018 wurde der vollständig aus Holz errichtete Wetter-Unterstand durch einen Neubau der Architektin Elisabeth Dirnbacher ersetzt.

Ich lenkte gerne meine Schritte empor wohl zu den lichten Höh’n.
Auf grünem Plan liegt in der Mitte dies Hüttlein, ach, so wunderschön!
Dort war ich jung und unbescheiden, rebellisch, voller Tatendrang.
Dies Jungsein kann man nur beneiden, da wurde nie ein Tag zu lang.
Wenn wir uns um das Feuer scharten, noch felserhitzt und sonn’verbrannt,
da konnten wir dies kaum erwarten: den nächsten Tag, die nächste Wand.
Dort lernten wir die Liebe kennen, in Hütte, Zelt, auf Wiesengrund.
Dies Hochgefühl kann ich nicht nennen; so schön war es, ich schließ‘ den Mund.
Auch heut‘ noch, alt und müd und grau, zieht es mich immer wieder hin.
Nicht, dass ich stets nach rückwärts schau; aber hier bleib‘ ich jung.
