Die Wimmertalalm liegt im wildromatischen Wimmertal, was von Gerlos-Gmünd aus zu erreichen ist. Die Straße führt anfangs kuzz steil und dann gemütlich und aussichtsreich in das Wimmertal hinein. Enlang des Wimmertalbaches liegen zahlreiche ursprüngliche landwirtschaftliche Gebäude. Die Wimmertalalm liegt am schönsten und ebenesten Platz im Tal, taleinwärts zieht sich das Tal einsam und schroff hinauf bis zur Wimmerscharte.
