Die Straußberg-Alpe liegt auf einer Höhe von 1227 m über dem Straußbergmoos, inmitten der Bergwelt von Imberger Horn, Straußbergsattel, Gernkopf und Sonthofner Hörnle.
Erstmals Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts erwähnt ging die Alpe um 1900 in den Besitz des bayerischen Prinzregenten Luitpold über. Seit nunmehr 40 Jahren wird sie behirtet und bewirtschaftet.

Den Sommer über weiden etwa 30 Stück Jungvieh auf der Straußberg-Alpe. Der Gastraum bietet Platz für 20 Personen, bei schönem Wetter können Gäste es sich auch auf der aussichtsreichen Sonnenterrasse bequem machen: mit bestem Blick auf Hindelanger Klettersteig, Rotspitze und Nebelhorn.

Kulinarisch werden die Gäste mit frischer Biomilch, Biomilchprodukten und Getränken sowie mit herzhaften Brotzeiten verwöhnt. Die Alpe ist Mitglied im Verein Allgäuer Alpgenuss e.V. und hat sich damit verpflichtet, nur Produkte aus der Region zu beziehen.
