Seit dem 17. Jahrhundert hatte der Ort Bolsternang im "Geschletter"-Gebiet eine gemeinschaftliche Viehweide. Das Güterbuch der Gemeinde beschreibt 1843 die Bebauung des Ortes: Sennhütte mit einer Wohnung und Kammer für den Hirten. Rund 100 Jahre wurde auf der Schletteralpe Käse hergestellt. In den 50er Jahren avancierte die Alpe zum beliebten Ausflugsziel. Heute findet sich an dem historischen Sennerei-Standort ein Picknickplatz mit Schutzhütte und Hängematten.
