Schiltalp is a very typical alpine dairy. Many of Mürren's cows are kept here in the summer, grazing in the surrounding meadows, while cheese is made daily in the rustic barn.
Schiltalp has a simple restaurant with outdoor seating, so you can stop and enjoy a snack while taking in the scenery. We like to visit this area often on our dayhikes from Mürren.

This is a relatively moderate day, filled with alpine farms, rolling hills, cows with bells, fields of wildflowers, and sweeping views.
A long, steep hike into high country to the top of the local Schilthorn peak to 360 degree views from the rotating restaurant on top.
This wide and sunny path does justice to the Greek god of light. I wonder if Apollo would have been a good sledder?
