A hut easily accessible from the Col de Tentes. An ideal starting point for the ascent to the Brecha de Rolando and the Taillón, as well as the trail to the Refugio de Góriz. Very basic restroom facilities.

Be sure to bring a headlamp, as you’ll often need both hands for personal hygiene in the dark (a flashlight isn’t enough). Very little lighting in the hut at night.

Web: http://refugebrechederoland.ffcam.fr/

The Refuge de la Brèche de Roland is often overcrowded, which makes it unbearably cramped (three-story dormitories with mattresses). For this reason, you should consider bringing bivouac gear and spending the night on one of the small, level spots below the hut or at one of the bivouac sites on the Spanish side, beneath the rocks directly west of the Brecha. I haven’t yet been able to verify whether the renovations carried out in 2016 have remedied the situation. Currently (summer 2020), the hut is closed due to avalanche damage; according to the hut’s website, it is scheduled to reopen on August 15, 2020.
