Nestled in the foothills of the Geigelstein, at an elevation of 1,410 meters, lies the Priener Hütte—set within the expansive nature reserve surrounding the second-highest peak in the Chiemgau Alps. As a key stop on numerous long-distance hiking trails—such as the Chiemgau Tour, the Adlerweg, and the Via Alpina—it has become an indispensable feature in the photo albums of enthusiastic mountaineers. With a walking time of about two and a half hours of pleasant ascent, the hut can also be reached from the valley via various routes and is ideal not only as a midday stop but also as a starting point for numerous day hikes to surrounding peaks and alpine pastures.
Our hut is part of the “Mit Kindern auf Hütten”(With Children at Mountain Huts) campaign, an initiative by the Alpine Clubs in Germany, Austria, and South Tyrol promoting family-friendly huts. It is suitable for children ages 3 to 4 and older. Our activity areas include: bouldering walls; a small lake; a herb garden; and nature observation in the Geigelstein Nature Reserve. In winter: sledding; snowshoeing.
Whether by bike or on foot, on touring skis or a sled—the “Blumenberg of the Alps” captivates with its unique diversity and invites you to connect with nature. Here, young and old alike can relax, get to know one another, socialize, and recharge. Treating nature with care and respect is a matter close to our hearts! Our in-house solar power system provides electricity for the completely self-sufficient hut—and we ensure the sustainable and careful use of our resources.
