Vom Parkplatz aus führt ein Almweg weiter zu den im Tal liegenden Almen. Die Wanderung (auf Weg Nr. 24) führt zunächst durch einen lichten Wald mit Kandelaberlärchen am Bach des Pfossentales entlang. Nach etwa einer Stunde Gehzeit erreicht man die Mitterkaser Alm (1.954 m), von hier aus sieht man bereits die Hohe Weiße (3.281 m), die den krönenden Abschluss des Pfossentals bildet.
