After a short, somewhat challenging, or a longer, very comfortable hike, one is rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Upper Rhine Valley.
The Kalmithaus is located at 673 m on the Prädikatswanderweg Pfälzer Weinsteig and is the highest hut in the Palatinate Forest. It is the first and oldest hiking hut in the region. The house was inaugurated in 1908 but has been changed many times since then. Today, the hut offers space for 180 people. The outdoor seating area with panoramic views accommodates 120 people. In addition to Palatine dishes, the menu also features changing daily specials.
