The Hofalm is located at 1,305 meters above sea level, above Spital am Pyhrn on the western side of the Großer Pyhrgas (2,244 meters), and is a mountain hut operated by the Spital am Pyhrn section of the ÖAV. Its special location offers a unique view of the Sengsengebirge to the north, the Tote Gebirge to the west, and a panoramic vista of the entire Garstnertal valley. From the cozy sun terrace, you can enjoy the breathtaking view and let your mind wander. You’ll be treated to high-quality, regional, homemade dishes by the hosts, Ingrid and Gabriel, ensuring nothing stands in the way of a wonderful, rejuvenating day in the mountains.
The hut is the ideal destination for hikers of all ages; the trails leading to the hut vary widely, ranging from child-friendly to alpine.
If you spend some time—and especially a night—at the Hofalm, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking sunset when the weather is nice. Cozy dorms (for 6 and 15 people) and a double room are available. Reservations are absolutely required! If you’re staying overnight with a dog, be sure to contact the lodge in advance!
