The Schwarzwaldverein hiking home is located between Biederbach and Freiamt, in the middle of the Black Forest Hüttenwinkel-Zwei Täler Land. The hiking lodge is open all year round.
The Black Forest Association's (Ettenheim-Herbolzheim local group) hiking lodge is in an idyllic and peaceful location on the Kandelhöhenweg trail between Biederbach and Freiamt, in the middle of the Black Forest Hüttenwinkel-ZweiTäler Land region. We run the hikers' hut all year round and serve local products and drinks, most of which are from regional producers.

It is not possible to travel directly to the hiking home by public transport. From Freiburg, take the Breisgau S-Bahn to Elzach and the SBG bus 7206 to Biederbach Höhenhäuser.
From Höhengasthaus Kreuz follow the Kandelhöhenweg (red diamond with K) for 5.5 km to the hiking home.
Directions
Comingfrom Freiburg, take the B3 towards Waldkirch / Freudenstadt, follow the L294 to Oberwinden im Elztal, at the entrance to the village turn left towards Katzenmoos and Oberspitzenbach. Continue on Unterspitzenbacher Straße and Oberspitzenbacher Straße for approx. 5 km, then turn right onto Biederbacher Straße and follow the signs to Freiamt. The road continues uphill to the Kreuzmoos hiking home.
From Lahr, follow the L102 towards Schuttertal over the Geisberg to Biederbach Dorf. In Biederbach Dorf, turn left at the Volksbank, pass the Schätzle bakery, follow the road uphill and head towards Selbig until you reach the Kreuzmoos hiking home. (This route is easier in snowy conditions as it is not as steep).
From Elzach, follow the L102 towards Lahr as far as Biederbach Dorf. In Biederbach Dorf, turn left at the Volksbank, pass the Schätzle bakery, follow the road uphill and head towards Selbig until you reach the Kreuzmoos hiking home.
