Goûter Refuge
The Refuge du Goûter sits enthroned at around 3800 m on the Aiguille du Goûter above Saint-Gervais. The FFCAM hut, which can accommodate 120 people, is the most important base on the normal route to Mont Blanc.
The Refuge du Goûter is located on the Aiguille du Goûter high above Saint-Gervais in the Mont Blanc massif and is one of the highest serviced huts in France at around 3,800 meters. The modern, ovoid hut of the French Alpine Club FFCAM offers around 120 beds and serves as a central base on the normal route to Mont Blanc. The main season is usually from the end of May to the beginning of October; outside of this period, a simple winter room is accessible.
Overnight stays are only possible with prior online reservation, spontaneous guests are not accepted. Overnight stays with breakfast or half board with dinner are offered; vegetarian menus are possible, but there is no vegan option.
Access is usually by train to Le Fayet, then by Tramway du Mont-Blanc or Bellevue cable car to Nid d'Aigle. From there, the trail leads via the Refuge de Tête Rousse and the Couloir du Goûter in around 5 hours with a difference in altitude of around 1400 m to the Refuge. The terrain is high alpine and glaciated; the Refuge serves almost exclusively as a base for Mont Blanc ascents. Current conditions, possible closures and the weather forecast should be checked carefully before each tour.
The current hut replaced older buildings on the same site in 2013 and was designed as an energy self-sufficient, wind-stable high mountain refuge.

Rooms
The Refuge du Goûter has around 120 beds in dormitories during the summer season; in the old building there is an unattended room with around 20 beds available in winter. Overnight stays are only possible with a valid online reservation; the confirmation letter must be presented on arrival. Payment on site is usually possible in cash or by debit or credit card. This is a simple high mountain hut with limited water and energy resources; comfort facilities are reduced to the bare essentials. A hut sleeping bag is obligatory for hygienic reasons and can be purchased on site if required. The hut is energy self-sufficient and is supplied with electricity via photovoltaics and generators; lighting and heating are controlled centrally.Food and drink
The Refuge du Goûter serves a simple mountaineering breakfast and a warm dinner as part of the half-board package. Vegetarian menus are possible, but there is no special vegan offer according to the operator.Sleeping beds
