Frassen Hut
It all began in 1863 with an alpine hut.
An alpine hut was built on the Pfannenknechtalpe on the Hoher Frassen around 1863; in 1894, Messrs. Gassner and Muther of Bludenz converted it into a lodging hut for tourists and added a veranda. In 1927, the hut and the surrounding property were donated to the Alpine Club to be faithfully managed and maintained. Since then, the Frassen Hut has endured the following decades with only minor changes, until an official complaint in 1973 forced a major renovation, which ultimately led to the construction of a new building.
In 1985, the hut was temporarily reopened, and it was not until 1990 that it was finally approved by the building authorities.
Today, the Frassen Hut—located at a magnificent vantage point—is an indispensable part of the series of seven section huts.
Our hut is part of the “Mit Kindern auf Hütten” (With Children at Mountain Huts) campaign, an initiative by the Alpine Clubs in Germany, Austria, and South Tyrol to promote family-friendly huts. Suitable for children ages 3–4 and up.
We look forward to your visit!
