[Bn]Eine Schutzhütte des Alpenverein Austria
Die Comptonhütte liegt auf 1.585m Seehöhe eingebettet in einem lichten Lärchenwald am Fuße der majestätischen Nordwand des Reißkofels in den Gailtaler Alpen. Sie wurde 1928 eröffnet und befindet sich optisch fast noch im Originalzustand, was sie besonders urig und gemütlich macht. In ihrer Ursprünglichkeit gilt sie somit wahres Kleinod unter den Alpenvereinshütten!

Die Hütte ist unter anderem über den Reißgraben ab Berg im Drautal, von Greifenburg über Egg, von Weißbriach über den Gösseringgraben oder vom Kreuzbergsattel über die Waisacher Alm erreichbar. Darüber hinaus ist die Hütte für Wanderer und Bergsteiger auch idealer Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen in die umliegenden Almen bis hin zum imposanten Gipfel des Reißkofels auf 2.371m.
