Die Cabane de Valsorey liegt südwestlich des Grand Combin auf einem Felsvorsprung am Fusse des Glacier du Meitin. Der Hüttenaufstieg startet in Bourg-St-Pierre.

Die Cabane de Valsorey ist eine einfach, aber sehr schöne Hütte der SAC Sektion La Chaux-de-Fonds. Die Hütte, mit einer hochalpinen Umgebung liegt auf 3028 Meter. Auf der Hütte können 60 Personen schlafen und sie wird von Isabelle Balleys bewirtschaftet.

Im Winter, ist die Hütte Teil der bekannten Haute Route zwischen Chamonix und Zermatt. Dementsprechend sehr schnell ausgebucht und voll. Eine frühzeitige Reservierung ist wichtig! Allerdings ist die Hütte auch offen, wenn sie nicht bewartet ist. Der Ansturm ist dann nicht so groß und es gibt einen kleinen Ofen und eine Kochgelegenheit.

Von April bis September ist die Hütte bewirtschaftet. Mitte Mai bis Juni ist die Hütte meistens nochmal geschlossen und nicht bewirtschaftet.

Im Winter ist die Hütte nicht bewirtschaftet/bewacht. Sie ist trotzdem offen und es kann übernachtet werden. In der Stube gibt es einen kleinen Holzofen, auf dem man Schnee schmelzen kann. Eine Kochgelegenheit ist auch vorhanden.

Public transport

Man kann mit dem Zug von Lausanne, Bern oder Brig nach Martigny fahren. Dort steigt man in den Zug nach Orsières. In Sembrancher muss man umsteigen. Von Orsières nach Bourg-Saint-Pierre fährt ein Bus direkt am Bahnhof los.

Directions

Über die A9 von Bern, Lausanne oder Brig nach Martigny. Dann Richtung Großer Sankt Bernhard Pass bis Bourg-Saint-Pierre weiterfahren.
