Welcome to the Barmer Hütte!
Our hut below the Hochgall is highly recommended both as a destination for day visitors and as a base for mountain hikes. Unspoiled nature and a cozy, well-run hut await you. Built in 1960, the hut is one of the few in the Eastern Alps that has not yet become overcrowded, and thus retains the authentic character of a mountain refuge—even though extensive renovations in recent years have improved its facilities and comfort.
Barmen—one of the two major districts of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Wuppertal, founded in 1929—gave its name to both the section and the hut. The Alte Barmer Hütte, built in 1900, was destroyed by an avalanche in 1956. The remains of that hut are still visible today.
Here we have compiled all the important information you need for your visit.
If you still have any questions, please contact us directly.
If you are planning a stay at the hut with dogs, please check with us in advance.
We look forward to your visit!
With a climbing wall right outside the cabin door and climbing routes featuring a total of more than 200 bolts, the cabin is a paradise for boulderers and climbers.
