Sowohl als Ziel für Tagesbesucher als auch als Stützpunkt für Bergtouren empfiehlt sich unsere Hütte unter dem Hochgall. Ursprüngliche Natur und eine gemütliche, gut geführte Hütte erwarten Sie. Die 1960 neu errichtete Hütte gehört zu den wenigen noch nicht überlaufenen Hütten der Ostalpen und bewahrt dadurch die Ursprünglichkeit einer Schutzhütte, auch wenn in den letzten Jahren umfangreiche Sanierungsarbeiten Technik und Komfort verbessert haben.
Barmen - einer der beiden großen Stadtteile der 1929 gegründeten nordrhein-westfälischen Großstadt Wuppertal - gab sowohl der Sektion als auch der Hütte den Namen. Die 1900 errichtete Alte Barmer Hütte wurde 1956 durch eine Lawine zerstört. Noch heute erinnern die Reste an diese Hütte.

Mit der Kletterwand direkt vor der Hüttentür und Klettertouren mit insgesamt mehr als 200 Bohrhaken ist die Hütte ein Paradies für Boulderer und Kletterer.
