Die Alpe selbst ist vergleichsweise leicht erreichbar: Von einem tiefer gelegenen Parkplatz dauert der Aufstieg etwa 30 Minuten, während es vom oberen Parkplatz nur wenige Gehminuten sind.
Für Familien bietet die Alpe zusätzlich einen Spielplatz und Tiere wie Esel, Hasen, Hühner und Kälber.
Kulinarisch liegt der Schwerpunkt auf bodenständiger regionaler Küche, zu der unter anderem Kassler mit Bratkartoffeln, Hochzeits- und Kartoffelsuppe sowie klassische Brotzeiten gehören; Kässpatzen sowie Rinder- und Schweinebraten werden auf Vorbestellung angeboten. Hinzu kommen selbstgemachte Milch und Butter, hausgemachte Kuchen und Kaffee, während im Winter Glühwein und heiße Schokolade für Wärme sorgen.
Als Partneralpe des Bier.Genuss.Dorfes Rettenberg setzt die Alpe bei ihrer Brotzeitkarte auf heimische und regionale Produkte und schenkt unter anderem Biere der drei Rettenberger Brauereien aus.
Für die Einkehr stehen ein uriges Gaststüble mit rund 50 Plätzen und eine Sonnenterrasse mit nochmals ungefähr 50 Plätzen zur Verfügung, zudem werden Hüttenabende und Feiern angeboten. Die Alpe steht zugleich in der Tradition der Allgäuer Alpwirtschaft, die mit Viehhaltung, Milchverarbeitung und der Bewirtschaftung der Bergweiden die Kulturlandschaft am Grünten geprägt hat; eine konkrete historische Entstehungszeit der heutigen Alpe konnte ich jedoch nicht zuverlässig belegen.
Durch ihre Kombination aus guter Erreichbarkeit, regionaler Gastronomie und direkter Lage im Wander- und Wintersportgebiet ist die Alpe Kammeregg besonders interessant für Outdoor-Enthusiasten, die eine Grüntentour mit einer traditionellen Allgäuer Einkehr verbinden möchten.
