Die Alp Waldnacht liegt in einem Hochtal auf 1400 bis 1500 m ü. M. Im Süden grenzt sie an den Hoch Geissberg, im Westen an den Surenenpass und im Norden an den Grat.
Waldnacht ist die grösste Privatalp im Kanton Uri. Sie dient drei Alpbetrieben als Hauptstafel. Insgesamt sömmern sie 75 Kühe und eben so viel Jungvieh.
