The Great Tullnerfeld Circular Hiking Route 475 (right bank of the Danube) and 675 (left bank of the Danube) covers a historic region nearly 200 km long, including the historic towns of Tulln, Traismauer, Mautern, Stein, Krems, and Stockerau; Greifenstein Castle; Göttweig Abbey; and Grafenegg Castle. It passes through the Tullnerfeld with its predominantly agricultural lands and floodplain forests along the Danube, as well as its surrounding areas such as the northern Vienna Woods, the eastern gateway to the Wachau, and the vineyard-dominated Wagram.
The last printed guide for the route dates from 1999 and is no longer up to date in many areas—especially regarding places to eat (a revision is in preparation). For this digital multi-day hike, the stage and checkpoint divisions have been completely revised. The author walked the route in February and March 2025.

The Troppberg is a comparatively little developed summit, whereby the lesser development primarily refers to the absence of a summit hut. Because it offered three viewing platforms: a very old one, an attached one that has since been demolished, and a new, modern one, stretched so high into the sky that the surrounding trees will probably never reach its platform and thus will never threaten the view again. What you can see: of course the Pre-Alps, Schneeberg and Ötscher, naturally into the wine and forest quarters and also a bit of Vienna. The summit is accessible by five star-shaped hiking trails, the two nearest refreshment options are somewhat off the main path, and therefore the tranquility up here is greater than on some other Wienerwald summits. On Troppberg, it is also nice to do ridge hiking on short and longer routes, towards Rekawinkel, Purkersdorf, or across to Tulbinger Kogel.
