Hiking in Terňa

From the bus stop in Vel'ký Šariš, OT Kanaš, on attractive forest paths up to the viewpoint Lysá Stráž. Most of it runs along the Slovak Heroes' Trail 

The educational trail in the Drienica resort area leads through the forests of the Čergov mountains, around the Baranie subunit, with a length of 10 km.

Discover one of the most beautiful ridge hikes in the Čergov Mountains. This loop trail from Hertník leads past the Čergov Mountain Hut, the summit of Čergov (1,050 m above sea level), Chochuľka, and Bukový vrch. You’ll encounter vast mountain meadows, stunning panoramic views, peaceful beech forests, and the only mountain hut in the range. This is a full-day hike for hikers who want to experience the authentic, lesser-known Carpathians.

The main ridge of Čergov, located in eastern Slovakia northwest of Prešov, is a unique and excellent hiking area, because although we are in a mid-mountain range, the ridge dotted with meadows and groves offers an alpine atmosphere with continuous views. Čergov is great for hiking in all seasons: in spring and summer you can enjoy bird-song and floral walks, in autumn the colorful foliage of varied forests will enchant you, and in winter you can snowshoe without avalanche danger among the magical snowdrifts of the ridge, often above the clouds.

The Priehyby educational trail is one of the longest educational trails in Slovakia and offers an exceptional crossing of the Čergov mountain range. It leads you through unique natural scenes, forests, and reserves with a high level of protection. It is part of the extensive Čergov educational trail system along with the Baranie and Tokáreň routes.

The SNP is a famous and challenging route in Slovakia. It has a long historic backround and its importance in WWII is a source of pride and identity. Someone who walks the SNP often receives the respect of local people and is greeted with a smile and thumb up. In the East the path starts at the Dukla Pass on the border to Poland traverses different mountain ranges with the highest peaks in the Lower Tatras and ends at the border with Austria in Devin just West of the capital Bratislava.
