Hiking in Plan

Beautiful, technically easy hike to one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Pyrenees

Linear route starting from Badaín and traversing the valley of the Irués river up to the resurgence of El Chorro, passing by the Fuentes de Fornos.

Circular route that goes around the gorge of La Aigüeta de Barbaruens, along its left bank, up to the Hermitage of the Virgin of Plan, from where we will return along the track that connects the villages of Plan and Barbaruens, passing by the Bordas de Bilsé.

Circular route starting and finishing at the Lavasar Refuge. It crosses the Ibón de Plan, the descent from la Mora, and continues through the Cotiello pass to ascend the cliffs of Diez, Once, and Mediodía. Afterwards, a technical descent from Mediodía will take us back to the Ibón path to return to the refuge.

On the local mountain of Saravillo From various directions, the Punta Llerga stands out as a massive mountain ridge, its shape characterized by numerous steep cirques and rocky valleys. Those who reach the top will be surprised, as the "peak" presents itself as an expansive ridge with several gently undulating hills. The highest point would be hard to find if it weren't for the survey pillar, which marks the Punta Bocolón as a destination alongside its nearly equally tall neighbors. No matter where you come from, the views are magnificent, especially the one towards the magical Cotiella to the east.

Pretty villages and landscapes around Gistaín For a long time, the valley of the wild Río Cinqueta was one of the most remote valleys in the Aragonese Pyrenees. This has contributed to preserving the local dialect and maintaining traditional customs. In addition to the villages that still show much of the original core, this circular hike also highlights the great scenic charm of the Valle de Chistén, as it is called in the local dialect.

Through desolate and wild rocky deserts in the Cotiella Massif Extreme contrasts in the landscape characterize the hike around Peña de la Una in the northern part of the Cotiella Massif. The enchanting lake landscape around the Ibón de Plan sets the stage for a unique hike, where sheer rock displays an astonishing variety of forms: eroded ridgelines, vast scree valleys, elegantly curved rock formations, whimsically shaped flanks, aesthetically structured ridgelines, and geometrically precise scree slopes—a beautiful and wild rock theater where solitude is the hiker’s greatest companion.

Climb from Saravillo to the middle of the Ibón de Plan, the climb goes up to the water tank and back.

A legendary lake high above Plan This popular destination on the north side of the Cotiella Massif is mainly accessed via a long gravel road that leads all the way to the Refugio de Labasar. But there are also two very scenic hiking trails leading up to the tranquil lake, nestled among the jagged and sometimes otherworldly-looking limestone formations that surround it. According to legend, a Moorish princess drowned here while fleeing the wars between the Moors and the Christians. While the ascent from Plan involves climbing steep slopes, the GR-15 trail from Saravillo takes a more leisurely approach to the destination. You only briefly come into contact with the dirt road.
