Hiking in Plainfeld

This circular hiking route from Eugendorf via Schwaighofen tells the stories of the surrounding farmers as well as cultural-historical information from the area using QR codes on the benches.

The "St. Rupert Pilgrim’s Route" is located in the border area between Bavaria and Salzburg and runs essentially from north to south. One variant passes through Bad Reichenhall, thus offering a connection to the Way of St. James.

Seekirchen-Eugendorf- Hof-Fuschl am See-St. Gilgen A very exhausting but very beautiful day tour, as the Fuschlsee region is already part of the Salzkammergut. It is also recommended to split the stage, e.g., at Hof, especially during the summer season. The tour starts at the collegiate church (St. Peter and Paul) and after just an hour you go through Eugendorf (Parish Church St. Martin). The climb to Schwöllern (Eugendorf Hill) is somewhat strenuous before the route continues comfortably to Plainfeld – Hof. Other highlights are the hike along Lake Fuschl and the Mozart view of Lake Wolfgang.

Special quality: - Unlike many other existing pilgrimage routes, asphalt paths are almost entirely avoided in favor of existing scenic hiking trails. Municipalities and their churches are connected, which have played a special role in the biography, history of re-Christianization, and veneration of St. Rupert. The "path guide" provides not only route descriptions but also reveals and explores the traces (legends, artworks, testimonies of veneration, folk culture) of this history.
