    Wir haben die Wanderung in der umgekehrter Richtung gemacht und empfanden den Rückweg in dieser Richtung als angenehmer. Wir hatten aber auch einen eher sehr nassen und matschigen Boden, bei trockenen Verhältnisse macht es vielleicht keinen so grossen Unterschied. Bei nassem oder feuchtem Boden würde ich übrigens beim Auf- und Abstieg des Gross Aubrig unbedingt empfehlen, diesen im Uhrzeigersinn zu machen, wie auch auf dieser Route angegeben. Der Abstieg könnte sich sonst schwierig gestalten, ausser man ist ein sehr geübter Berggänger. Ich empfand ein paar weniger Abschnitte beim Aufstieg zum Gross Aubrig als T3+. Technisch nicht so schwierig aber etwas anstrengend, manchmal musste man die Hände zu Hilfe nehmen. Mir macht dies Spass, aber wem dies nicht zusagt, soll doch nur von der Ostseite her den Auf- und Abstieg im Angriff nehmen. Beim Abstieg hätte ich die Westroute nur im trockenem Zustand gewagt. Wir haben uns Zeit gelassen und hatten zu fünft (ohne Mittagspause) fünf Stunden gebraucht. Alles in allem eine sehr schöne Tour.

    Aussichtsreiche Wanderung mit Blick auf die Glarner Alpen und den Zürichsee ohne Schwierigkeiten. Besonders schön am Abend wenn der Zürichsee im Abendlicht wie ein Meer aus Blei scheint. Unterwegs Getränkeschränkli zwischen Rosswis und Tuggener Hüttli (TWINT) und auf der Alp Pfiffegg (Kässli).

    Insgesamt ganz schöne Tour mit genügend Abwechslung. Der Anfangs-Teil kann nach oder bei Regen recht matschig sein. Wir sind dazu durch insgesamt 7 Kuh-Herden gelaufen respektive haben uns an ihnen vorbei manövriert, da diese teilweise genau auf den Wegen grasten. Halt auf der Sattelegg hat genau gepasst.

    Wir sind den ersten Teil der Route auf dem östlichen Weg gelaufen, durch z.Zt. sehr matschige Wiesen. Den Gipfelaufstieg auf den Gross Aubrig würde ich unbedingt wie hier beschrieben auf dem westlichen Weg machen und nach Süden über die Wiese absteigen. Der quasi weglose Aufstieg über Wurzeln und Steinplatten ist rutschig und hochwärts deutlich angenehmer. Der Rückweg zum Parkplatz über den Chli Aubrig war dann sehr komfortabel gehbar. Alles in allem eine sehr lohnenswerte Tour, für uns nicht zu "schwer", vielleicht sogar mittel.

    Landschaftlich sehr schön, aber auf das Panorama muss man sich länger gedulden und die Signalisation könnte t.w. besser sein. Asphalt macht den Weg aufwärts leicht - gut, dass es auch so beschrieben ist, und man damit rechnen kann. Sehr positiv: wir waren an diesem Sonntag fast allein da unterwegs. Empfehlenswert: Restaurant Bären in Vorderthal, wo wir am Morgen die Toilette auch ohne Konsumation benutzen durften und dafür am Abend noch einkehrten. sehr nette Wirtin!

However, for the time being, the initial 300m elevation are gained on a path under heavy construction (as of Nov 2020), so would consider alternatives for this section. As already indicated in the first review, the indicated time is not realistic for hikers, but rather for trail running.

    Nice hike, but beware the times: We were hiking for 4.5h without breaks, we are pretty fit and we skipped the "Chli Aubrig". Total distance was 13km, 960hm. The given time for the whole tour is very unrealistic. That being said, the views are great and the hike is perfect for an early spring or late autumn hike when there is too much snow on the surrounding mountains. There are some very steep parts, both on the way up and down and since it was very muddy and wet it can get pretty slippery on the stones: Poles recommended.
