Adventurous variant of a classic hikeThe Lägern is considered the easternmost outlier of the Jura Mountains, and its crossing marks the beginning of the Jura Ridgeway from Dielsdorf to Lake Geneva. Only very few of the countless hikers who flock to the rocky and sometimes narrow Lägern ridge on sunny days are aware of the mysterious Walhalla Cave, which lies just a few meters down on the south slope. Originally just a rock crevice, it was expanded and furnished from 1920 by four young men from Wettingen. They are immortalized on the commemorative plaque with their artist names Mars, Minerva, Venus, and Aeolus. The cave itself is unspectacular; however, the path to it and the view from the small forecourt are all the more delightful.

    I made it from Regensburg to Baden. It was surprisingly wonderful hiking through on the ridge. Didnt took the extreme-difficult part of the route on the ridge though, that’s on the Baden side of the mountain. Surely next time. Route is very recommended!

    Wahnsinns Aussicht, absolut lohnenswert. Kilometer 9.9 auf Bildstockstrasse ausweichen, der angegebene Weg ist zugewachsen und vermutlich eher nicht für die breite Öffentlichkeit gedacht. Mein pers. Résumé, Weg anders herum laufen, ganz nach dem Motto erst die Arbeit dann das Vergnügen.

    Sehr schöne Wanderung, jedoch eher als mittelschwer, vor allem ab Lägern-Hochwacht, einzustufen. Wunderschöne Aussicht von der Hochwacht. Die Wanderzeit von ca. 3 Stunden stimmt. Die Streckendistanz betrug jedoch ca. 12,5 km.
