From the lake jewel Lac de Taney to the magnificent viewpoint over Lake GenevaUnexpectedly, the "blue eye" of Lac de Taney (also: Tanay) lies high above the Rhone valley near Lake Geneva, surrounded by rugged rocky mountains. The lake and its surroundings are under nature protection, and even a leisurely walk around the lake promises great impressions. However, a tremendous upgrade is possible with the ascent to the northern summit of Grammont, as the mountain ridge stands 1800 m directly and steeply above Lake Geneva. From here, you have a view as if from an airplane of this largest Central European lake deep below, with the French-Swiss border town of St-Gingolph right at your feet. In clear weather, you can also clearly see the Jura ridge, as well as, of course, mountains, mountains, and more mountains in the other directions! This already whets the appetite to get to know these rather little-known regions here in the Chablais, or across the Rhone the mountains around Fribourg and the western Bernese Alps more closely!
