No high goal, but great views With suitable thermals, our destination is a preferred observation spot for vultures, which move back and forth here between the area of the Cañón de Añisclo and the gorge of the Río Yaga. But even otherwise, there is a lot to see: Especially the large rock amphitheaters where the deep gorges opposite Escuaín originate invite prolonged observation.

A lookout of the highest order The Castillo Mayor is an extraordinary sight in every respect. As a mountain, it stands isolated and seems not to belong to any mountain range; its bizarre shape resembles a tilted table mountain that has collapsed inward at the edge. Rarely is the contrast between gentle high pastures and rough karst rock, which can gleam like snow from afar, so impressive.

Effortless hike to the steep cliffs of the Cañón de Añisclo Those who see the thousand-meter-high walls of the Sestrales from the valley floor will hardly suspect that a vast high plateau with subalpine pastures stretches above. On the easy hike along the steep cliffs, the spectacular landscape contrasts between the wild canyon cuts and the high mountain scenery around the Tres Sorores are presented in the finest perspectives.

Thrilling ascent to the high plateau above the Cañón de Añisclo The steep flanks, towers, and pinnacles of the Sestrales seem to block every climb to this fantastic rock castle. However, on an exciting and varied path that cleverly uses ledges, notches, and rock channels, you reach the extended ridge of the Sestrales with a pronounced karst landscape. The view over the Añisclo Canyon, the vertical Mondoto cliffs, and the national park is first-class.

At fascinating water features at the beginning of the well-known gorge The Garganta del Escuaín is mainly fed by a year-round spring that flows out of a large cave system. It lies somewhat hidden above the gorge floor in the wooded gorge slopes. The water flowing over rocks creates a very attractive scenery with beautiful pools that is popular to visit in summer.

Magnificent viewpoint trail over the Garganta de Escuaín Not far from the long-abandoned hamlet of Revilla, several viewing balconies have been created high above the Garganta de Escuaín, offering beautiful views into the deep gorge of the Río Yaga. A small detour on the way back of the easy circular hike leads to the Barranco de Angonés, which at this point enchants with an almost perfect charming interplay of rock, water, and light.

From village to village through the gorge of the Río Yaga Both villages were until recently only very difficult to reach on rough tracks. Although this has changed since the asphalt has been laid, the direct connection between the two hamlets high above the Río Yaga gorge is still only possible on foot along a path that reveals the diversity of the gorge landscape. The descent down to the river with its turquoise pools and the roaring cascade at the end of the Garganta de Escuaín is an attractive adventure in itself – not to mention the visit to the mountain villages, both of which have now been almost completely restored.

Great panoramic tour over and in the Cañón de Añisclo First the fantastic landscape view high above the Cañón de Añisclo with the Tres Sorores as eye-catchers, then down at the bottom of the beautiful gorge along the Río Bellós to the impressive Fuen Blanca – the »White Spring« shooting high out of the rock – at the mouth of the homonymous Barranco – the ideal of a valley and altitude hike in a guaranteed lonely section of the Ordesa Park.

Beautiful high trail to a mighty high mountain basin Only a few hikers make their way to the large mountain basin where the Río Yaga originates. The wild and barren landscape of the glacier-shaped rock basin contrasts effectively with the green pastures and gentle heights on the other side of the Río Yaga gorge. The view of this enormous amphitheater is of unique beauty, and the path there is already a first-class hiking pleasure through a lonely area of the national park.
