A highly enjoyable hike of you don't have the time for a full day hike in this beautiful area.
It visits several beauty spots, and is mostly shady in the forest.
W did it on late June and found wild strawberry, wild blackberry and wilds cherries.
A fantastic hike with amazing views all the time. The refuge is very nice and has great views too; the lake is beautiful.
Note that the suggested route follows unpaved roads most of the way. It is possible, and much more enjoyable, to take all the possible shortcuts; those go through woods or small paths and are more enjoyable.
Also, if you are very sure-footed, you can return from Lake Pomeranz on the path that you will see on the map (instead of retracing your steps back to the main path). This takes you to a very steep route down, which uses several ladders and several chain-assisted descends. What fun !!
This hike is part of one featured in "Alpes magazine" (1406) of 2014 (pages 28-29). That hike ends at Refuge de Moede-Anterne. Lakes, torrents and great views; all that in a 4h30 hike.
Completed this yesterday. It is an amazing hike which has everything, including scrambling up rockfaces with ropes. lengthy climbing and descending but worth it for the views.
