Stage 14 of the GR-11 in my case done on July 6, 2025. I actually started in La Sarra and climbed to the RESPOMUSO refuge. From there this stage begins. It takes about 6h and 15 min. with stops from the Respomuso refuge and about 8h and 20 min. from La Sarra.

First-class panoramic trail to the pass leading to the French Marcadau Valley Compared to the neighboring Ibones Azules, only a few hikers make their way to the Puerto de Marcadau. Yet, the varied path offers many excellent viewing highlights, including the well-known Gran Facha with its neighboring peaks, the Batanes mountains, and the glacier-polished granite basin with its lake basins. The somewhat disappointing view from the border pass into the Marcadau Valley, blocked by the Pico de la Muga, is easily compensated: from the summit, which is just over a hundred meters higher, you can enjoy a brilliant view!

A mule trail with the most beautiful views The old mule path up to the Embalse de Brazato was originally used for the construction of the dam and is now maintained as a popular hiking trail. Although the lake itself is framed by rather unspectacular mountains – the extensive views of the magnificent mountain ranges and the changing landscape guarantee an impressive hiking experience on effortless paths.

Along the Río Calderés up to the mountain hut The mountain regions of the Valle de Tena are full of small and larger lakes, almost all remnants of the last Ice Age. A considerable number are located in the mountain basins above Baños de Panticosa. A well-developed mule track, which was created for the construction of the dam at Ibón Alto de Bachimaña, leads to the lakes. Along this path opens the charming valley of the Río Caldarés up to the refuge, which is popular on weekends. For those not yet tired of this tour, an extension to the well-known Ibones Azules is recommended, which are overlooked by the summit trio of the Picos del Infierno, all just over the three-thousand-meter mark.

Très belle boucle qui n’est si facile d’accès pour les enfants. Le sentier du retour est accessible via un petit pont de pierre bien caché et en bas d’une pente assez raide.

Amazing Hike! Just be careful to buy the tickets from the parking space machine and that there are many restrictions on the entry to the cliff area. Picture attached
