As the title suggests, there are seven chapels to discover on this circular hike. Although we are on the edge of the Fichtelgebirge, the elevation gain is manageable, though not negligible. The starting point is, of course, freely selectable. More "chapel routes" are linked on this page under the "Details" menu.

Scenic volcanic cones and a geological nature trailThe basalt cones Armesberg, Waldecker Schloßberg, and Anzenberg, together with the Rauher Kulm, dominate the geologically interesting Kemnather Land. Castle ruins and pilgrimage churches now crown the former volcanic vents. Numerous geo-stations illustrate geological phenomena and special features of flora and fauna.

▶ From the parking lot at the medical center in Kemnath 01, we walk along the stream to the right towards Erbendorfer Straße, turn right, then turn left onto Kardinal-Muench-Straße (marked "Blue Cross on White"). At Eisersdorfer Straße, keep left and then follow the sign to Armesberg to the right ("Blue Cross"). With a beautiful view, we go across open fields, past a power plant and a wayside cross up to a hill. The asphalt ends and gently downhill we reach Luderweiher 02. Around the lake on the right, at the end of the lake turn right again (marked "4") and along a grassy path at the forest edge. Don't miss the left turn into the forest ("4" and Geo-Adventure Path). The ascending path leads back to the forest edge and then rises to the right over open meadows to a hilltop. To the right, a short detour is worthwhile to the scenic Pos. Anzenberg-Ulme 03. Back to the junction and on a driveway to the right to houses, there we turn left and walk gently downhill across open fields, cross a road and then, gently uphill again towards the forest edge. Through forest, tall trees and denser mixed forest as well as lighter, open spots, it slowly goes uphill, out of the forest to a paved lane, which we follow to the right, quite steeply uphill, to the road. On the asphalt lane, we hike in zigzags slightly uphill over scenic terrain, turn left onto a gravel path and reach the Gregerhaus 04 over a crest. Wonderful view at an information board of three recognizable basalt cones (the volcanoes Waldecker Schlossberg, Anzenstein and Rauhe Kulm). Behind the house, the narrow path leads steeply up, first through forest, then over meadow terrain. Past a stone cross, we get to the Stationsweg, asphalted, leading up to the pilgrimage church on the Armesberg 05. On the descent, we follow the "Black S" marking steeply downhill on asphalt, then, in view of a barrier, turn left onto a forest path ("Blue Cross") and continue downhill along the forest edge and past meadows. We follow the blue cross, which then takes us right onto a wide gravel path leading downhill. We pass a wayside cross shortly before the forest edge, then the view opens and behind a small patch of forest, at a bench, we turn sharply right. We cross a road, reach the Pos. Letten 06 and walk gently downhill to the left. At an asphalt road, we turn right and shortly afterwards left onto a field path leading to the Große Weiher 07. Passing various ponds, we get onto asphalt again at a horse farm via the gravel path and walk straight ahead, passing several ponds on the right side again. Across Eisersdorfer Straße, we follow Bürgermeister-Zetlemeisl-Straße in a left curve along the houses, enter Vehstraße, which leads us to Kardinal-Muench-Straße. On the familiar route, we go back to the parking lot in Kemnath 01 at the medical center.
