Our hike begins on the high plateau of Weißenbach at the Hüllweiher near Glatzenstein (starting point of many hikes in the Nürnberger Land). The path first leads us over the high plateau of Weißenbach/Oberkrumbach to the Jura mountain trail, which we follow up to Enzenreuth to the Enzenstein viewing point (magnificent view far into the Nürnberger Land). Afterwards, the trail goes down through the forest (No. 2) to the Rothenberg parking lot and then up to the Rothenberg fortress (currently, the fortress grounds are unfortunately closed except for the moat due to Corona). A short section just below the fortress is the fortress cemetery, a place of silence and reflection. Now we come to the last section of our hike and follow the shady forest path down towards Kersbach... once again out in the open, passing by a pond to Kersbach. From there, we follow the markings according to the plan to Glatzenstein (green dot and -1-).

Those hiking on the Franconian Mountain Trail will be captivated by the romance of Franconian landscapes, which Eichendorff already dedicated one of his most beautiful poems to. But the route also offers hiking experiences expected from summit climbs and sporting hikes.

Our quiet family-friendly autumn hike starts at the school in Reichenschwand. We head north on Blumenstraße to Bergstraße, which we follow to the right uphill according to the map. Our hiking trail is very well marked and requires little explanation. I chose the path most used by hikers up to the Großer Hansgörgl. From Großer Hansgörgl, it continues towards Kleiner Hansgörgl, past a bench with a Jesus cross and a memorial plaque for fallen comrades 1914/18 – 1939/45. Shortly after, we pass the Teufelsloch, which is on the left side of our path, but it is easy to overlook since the information board was removed for unknown reasons. The next destination is Kleiner Hansgörgl marked by a piled-up stone heap. Then it goes zigzag downhill, and we follow the path according to the plan past Lindelberghof and Wasserhaus (Frankenweg) until we reach a farmstead where we turn right and return directly to Reichenschwand. Possibility to stop for refreshments after the round trip in Reichenschwand.
