For many decades, the hiking route from Cochem to Ulmen has been well known to hikers as the 1st stage of the Karolingerweg (main route (15) of the Eifelverein). The Karolingerweg connects the Moselle from Cochem through the romantically wild Endertal with the central volcanic Eifel, goes over Ulmen to Daun to the Nerother Kopf, crosses the Kyll valley in Mürlenbach, and leads through magnificent forests to the famous abbey town of Prüm. It is marked with a black angle on a white background, maintained voluntarily by the Eifelverein. We introduced the Karolingerweg two years ago: http://hepeters.bplaced.com/wordpress/?p=3041
Now, the marketing for the route from Cochem to Ulmen has been professionally developed and expanded by a project community of the surrounding collective municipalities: The existing signage has been completely supplemented by additional signage according to the hiking guide of Rhineland-Palatinate. A new (additional) logo marks the main route and the connecting paths from the hilltop communities into the Endertal. A promotional flyer highlights the highlights of the route. It contains all important information about the course with kilometer indications, the mills along the Enderbach, an elevation profile as well as parking lots, connections to public transport, and entry points to the trail. A budget of around 45,000 euros was provided for this. The Eifelverein was not directly involved in this.

The Pommerbach Hiking Trail, which runs fromKaisersesch to the wine-growing village of Pommern on the Moselle, is considered one ofthe most scenic valley hiking trails in the Moseifel region. Seventeen footbridges span the stream as it meanders naturally through deciduous forests; in the forests and meadows along its banks, purple-edged fritillaries, wildcats, black woodpeckers, green lizards, eagle owls, and Apollo butterflieshave found a refuge.
