Long loop in the impressive Ehujarre gorge via a shaded path, a long and tough climb along the slopes and cliffs (very beautiful passage at the foot of the Aphezkupua peak that stands before you near the end, before entering the narrowest part of the gorge). Instead of returning directly at the exit of the gorge after the Molerse cave, continue toward the magnificent Erainze (or Errayze) cirque, which is a large pastoral valley housing the Erainze cayolar at the foot of the pass of the same name leading to the GR10 in Spain. Hundreds of sheep graze on the slopes of this cirque, descending to the cayolar in the afternoon. The valley offers no shade. You can easily climb a bit along the flank of Eruso to get a bird’s-eye view of the end of the Ehujarre gorge to the north, the whole valley, and the Erainze pass to the south. Far to the east, you can see the pointed cones of the Arlas and Anie peaks. The return will initially be sunnier than the ascent, through a sort of steppe undulating at the foot of Utzigagna, a rounded grassy hill. The summit of this hill is easy to reach for the more athletic, but it adds elevation gain to an already demanding route! Finally, you reach the large beech forest of Utzia to finish the descent toward Sainte-Engrâce.

Varied circular hike through the Valley of SecretsThe village of Isaba/Izaba is a crossroads in the Navarrese High Pyrenees. Here, the mountain pass roads branch off towards the Salazar region in the northwest (with the main town Ochagavía) and towards the Valle de Belagua and the pass into France in the northeast. Isaba/Izaba has developed into a starting point for many hikers in the Pyrenees. Slightly northeast of Isaba, this circular hike has been established in recent years to bring visitors closer to the beauties of the region. Indeed, this short hike holds many surprises.
