Varied hike through the villages of Valle CannobinaThe "Strada Borromea," so called since the Archbishop of Milan, Carlo Borromeo, visited Valle Cannobina in the 16th century, connects the old villages that lie high above the valley on the mountainsides. The houses are cleverly placed to catch every ray of sunshine, and the road is also thoughtfully designed to remain largely passable during winter.
Promising circular route on the north slope of La PiotaGurro, with its narrow, winding alleys and many houses no longer inhabited, lies on a small plateau on the north slope of the Piota, 1925 m. Framed by high mountains on three sides, visitors have only the view down to the northeast into the river valley. Allegedly, the inhabitants of the village descend from a group of Scottish mercenaries who got stuck there on their way home after the Battle of Pavia in 1525.
This route represents a variant of the second stage and allows, once you arrive in Gurro, to go directly to Cursolo, significantly shortening and simplifying the route.
