The tour to the Kleiner and Großer Sonnstein is probably one of the most popular tours in the Salzkammergut. No wonder, because effort and experience are excellently balanced here. The ascent is not quite easy but doable for everyone with a bit of sure-footedness.
The Erlakogel, commonly referred to as the "Sleeping Greek", offers an alternative to the more alpine and more frequently visited Traunstein. The view from the summit is certainly just as beautiful.
Easy hikes for the whole family
Also in the valley, you will find beautiful hiking trails in this corner of the Salzkammergut, suitable for the whole family. On the Soleweg, you hike on historic paths. Along the way ran the pipeline that transported brine from Hallstatt to Ebensee. You can extend this hike almost as much as you like depending on your desire, mood, and available fitness.
The tour over the Hochsteinalm and further to the Geißwand near Traunkirchen is somewhat more challenging. The tour can also be easily shortened by simply returning the same way after a snack and a visit to the animal park at the Hochsteinalm.
Another gem can be found around the Vorderer and Hinterer Langbathsee. Even the drive through the beautiful valley along the Langbathbach is impressive. From the parking lot, a beautiful circular hiking trail leads around the lakes, which is also suitable for strollers. The scenery at the back lake is certainly among the most beautiful in the entire Salzkammergut.
