Testimonies of volcanism, archaeological excavations of a Roman villa complex, as well as wayside shrines, field and roadside crosses as evidence of ancient Eifel culture: on this circular route (11.9 km, 226 m elevation gain) around Steffeln, one remarkable event follows another. Highlights: Vulkangarten Steffeln, Steffelner Drees (mineral spring), Eichholzmaar, the Roman villa complex of Duppach-Weiermühle, and the Marian chapel at Wahlhausen.
Our path follows for the first six kilometers the marking of the Georundweg Steffeln together with the Eifelverein's rock path via the Vulkangarten Steffeln, the Steffelner Drees, the Eichholzmaar, and the Roman villa complex of Duppach-Weiermühle. Beyond the Weihermühle, it turns north and leads over Heidberg, Auel, and Wahlhausen back to Steffeln.
