View into the Adige Valley and two karst caves The Lessinia abruptly drops into the valley of the Adige, which at this height is called Val Lagarina. The varied hike leads scenic right along this edge and finally to the panoramic summit Corno d’Aquilio, 1545 m. From there we look 1400 meters down into the Adige Valley. In the distance, Lake Garda, Monte Baldo and the Piccole Dolomiti can be seen, on clear days also the Apennines. Right at our feet lies the Lessinia with its pretty villages. The Corno d’Aquilio is part of the distinctive terrain step that separates the uninhabited upper Lessinia from the inhabited lower Lessinia. This step is impressively experienced from the summit. At the path edge, we encounter the Grotta del Ciabattino, a spacious karst cave that we can comfortably enter. The Spluga della Preta, on the other hand, is reserved for ambitious cave climbers: a vertical hole 130 meters deep continues as a cave system that has been explored so far to a depth of 877 meters.

From the ascent, you can admire the underlying Adige Valley and the Garda Lake-Monte Baldo complex. Meanwhile, you continue on a gentle slope heading north until reaching a very steep slope that leads to the top of the Plateau. From here, you easily reach the summit of Corno d'Aquilio, a privileged viewpoint from which to enjoy a 180-degree panorama. Finally, you return to the starting point, stopping first at the Shoemaker's Cave. Following the Liana Valley, you return once again to the Tommasi locality, closing the loop.

Attenzione.
