Niederhaverbeck is located right in the middle of the Lüneburger Heide nature reserve and even before the main blooming season of various heath plants we found the landscape, nature, and traditionally preserved buildings very impressive. Our route led through Steingrund, the rightfully well-known Totengrund over the Wilseder Berg and back along the Haverbeeke.

Start and finish is at the Hotel "Heiderose" in Undeloh, situated in the midst of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve. Due to its unique landscape, the Lüneburg Heath is a popular destination for hikers. The highlight is the heath bloom in the months of August and September, when the heath transforms the land into a pink to violet carpet of flowers. Undeloh is surrounded by the most beautiful large and varied heath areas. Immediately, the landscape diversity opens up with open ridges, typical heath junipers, streams, mixed forests, and small moorlands.

Whoever thinks the Lüneburg Heath is flat will be proven wrong during the hike from Behringen to Wilsede. The ascent to the 160 m high Boltenberg demands a drop or two of sweat from some.

Lovely circular hike. Almost an ideal hike, on the way to Wilsede you see hardly any hikers and on the way back from Wilseder Berg to the Unterhaverbeck car park you have the whole heath in front of you the entire time.
