Cozy, Scenic Circular Trail in the Heart of the Guadalest ValleyThe Embalse de Guadalest is one of the most important water reservoirs in the Marina Baixa district. The dam was completed in 1964 but was never officially inaugurated. The water level of the lake is an indicator of the state of the water supply – unfortunately, not good in recent years. With its turquoise-green color, it looks like a glacier lake amidst the mountain ranges of Aitana, Serrella, and Aixorta, which rise up to 1558 m high. When the clouds hang low, you almost feel like you are in the Alps. The lake's circuit runs two-thirds on a little-used asphalt road, but this does not diminish the wonderful views of the mountainous surroundings.

An impressive observation tower on the Sierra de SerrellaTo start, we climb a steep concrete path up to the Collado del Castellet, enjoying spectacular views of the Guadalest reservoir. From the saddle, a comfortable dirt road leads us along the north slope of the Sierra de Serrella with deep views of Castell de Castells to the equally scenic mountain ridge. The highlight is the dizzyingly steep rock ledge at the eastern end of the mountain range. Like an eagle's nest, the Moorish castle ruin El Castellet from the 13th century perches in an exposed location, rewarding us with a breathtaking panoramic view.

Up to Morro Blau, it runs along a wide track and offers unique views of the coast and the hinterland. The way back leads through the remote landscape of the south side of the Sierra; those who wish can climb the summit of La Xortà, 1219 m, on the way.
