The central panoramic mountain in the hinterland of the Riviera of FlowersThis hike allows you to climb the panoramic mountain Monte Ceppo with its all-round view of the mountains and valleys in the hinterland of the Riviera of Flowers. Apart from the grassy peaks themselves, the hike follows pleasant, shady forest paths. Every year on June 24, the people of Triora make a pilgrimage to the little mountain church of San Giovanni dei Prati with a portal dating back to 1522.

The local mountain of SanremoMonte Bignone in the hinterland of Sanremo is one of the most visited mountains in Liguria with its many hiking trails, despite the former cable car being shut down and many TV and mobile phone masts disfiguring it today. However, the actual summit, with its rotunda, is located somewhat further north and higher: It offers a wide view over the western Ligurian Riviera and towards the highest mountains of Liguria on the border ridge to France.

Via the west ascent to Monte BignoneThe most scenic ascent to Monte Bignone runs along its west side and below the steep cliffs there from Passo Ghimbegna to Colle Termini di Bajardo – with unobstructed views of the Italian-French border ridge and over the southwest ridge up to the summit area. This mountain hike should therefore be started early in the morning: when the sun is higher, you walk pleasantly through the shady forest on the east side of the northern ridge.

Behind Sanremo, famous Ligurian tourist destination, the landscape is hilly and covered with woodland. From the top of Monte Bignone the view ranges from the coast to the close Armea Valley as far as the Ligurian and Maritime Alps. Despite its closeness to the sea, Monte Bignone rises 1300 m above the sea level. This hike starts from the village of San Romolo (765 m), located at the centre of a mountainous area popular among hikers and mountain bikers. On the top of the mountain are the remains of a pre-roman defensive settlement which dates back to the 5th century.
