Horacio Tacos

Colours, scents, flavours – and a story that hardly anyone would expect. Horacio Tacos is inspired by the world of the Mexican artist Horacio Rentería Rocha, Daniel Rentería’s grandfather. Frida Kahlo was also part of his circle. It is to him that we owe not only the restaurant’s name, but also the recipes used to prepare fresh meals here every day.

On the menu you’ll find tacos, empanadas, fresh salads and homemade dips – and the menu is gradually expanding with new dishes shaped by the Rentería family and their Mexican culinary tradition.

Owner Susanne Legros, her husband Christophe Legros and concept developer Daniel Rentería have together created a restaurant that combines Mexican tradition with genuine craftsmanship. There are no ready-made products here – instead, vegetables are roasted and turned into homemade sauces and dips, whilst the meat is pulled by hand, marinated, seasoned and left to rest overnight until it tastes exactly as it should.

The restaurant itself is a place full of colour and character. Here you’ll find a wall dedicated to the Rentería family’s special connection to Frida Kahlo – a real eye-catcher against which guests and tourists love to have their photos taken time and time again. Another wall serves as an exhibition space for local artists, featuring works by the likes of Andreas Knack from Baden-Baden. The guiding principle, ‘Mexico connects – history, art and enjoyment’, sums up what Horacio Tacos aims to create: a place where Mexican hospitality, authentic food, family history and art come together, allowing you to experience a special slice of Mexico right here in Baden-Baden.
