Der Weihnachtsmarkt in Riga ist eine lang gepflegte Tradition. Glühwein, Pfefferkuchen, geröstete Mandeln, leckeres Geräuchertes oderauch Weihnachtstee und Kaffee gehören einfach in diese Jahreszeit. Neben den Leckereien und den Erzeugnissen der Handwerkern können die Besucher des Weihnachtsmarktes auch Traditionen aus verschiedenen Teilen Lettlands kennenlernen, wie das Balkenziehen und das Herstellen von weihnachtlichen Leckereien aus Körnern und anderen Rohstoffen. Konzerte mit weltbekannten Liedern und Melodie aus Lettland werden von Popgruppen und Ensambles aus Lettland vorgetragen. In kreativen Werkstätten kann man die Kunst des alten Handwerks erlernen und in einer besonderen Weihnachtspostfiliale kann man Postkarten verschicken.
