Pfeffer´s Tavern is an umbrella bar on the border with the French Alsace, separated from it only by the monumental structure of the German Wine Gate, and is thus in an exposed location: precisely at the southern beginning of the Wine Route.
Wait...what is an umbrella bar? Well, that´s easy to explain: a very large umbrealls that can be folded open and closed, with room for plenty of 80 people, a ready-made bar area and outdoor elements - either closed or open in just a few minutes, depending on the weather.
Here on the border, where Palatinate hospitality meets French ease, it is great to enjoy and meet people. For this reason, there has long been a beach-style extension directly at the umbrella bar with an airy roof and plenty of seating to accommodate more guests.
By the way, the umbrella bar Pfeffer's Tavern is not only very well visited in the warm months, but also in winter at various original events. Wednesdays are the days when the Schirmbar Pfeffer's Taverne at the German Wine Gate in Schweigen-Rechtenbach is usually best visited, because on this day they serve the already legendary merguez from the neighboring country, a sausage speciality made of beef and lamb.
