Mátraverebély-Szentkútra több mint 800 éve érkeznek zarándokok, vizének gyógyító hatásához már a középkorban is legendák fűződtek. A török idők óta a ferencesek által vezetett kegyhelyen 1705-ben épült fel az első kápolna, de már a 13. századtól éltek a környéken remeték. Ma Magyarország legjelentősebb búcsújáróhelye.

Public transport
- Vasúton a Hatvan - Somoskőújfalu vonalon közlekedő vonatokkal Mátraverebély megállóhelyig.
- Salgótarjánból (esetleg Nagybátony vasútállomástól) induló autóbuszokkal Mátraverebély Szentkút megállóig.
- Salgótarjánból, Gyöngyösről, Budapestről, Ózdról autóbusszal Mátraverebély, eszpresszó megállóig.

Directions
- A vasútállomástól észak felé indulunk és a K jelzést követjük Szentkútig (5,1 km).
- A Szentkút megállótól nyugatra indulunk; kb. 300 méter után érünk a zarándokházhoz.
- A Mátraverebély eszpresszó buszmegállótól nyugat felé indulunk, majd jobbra fordulunk a Vasút útra, és innen a K jelzést követjük Szentkútig (összesen 4,5 kilométer).
Parking
- Budapest felől a 21-es főútról Mátraverebély településnél kell balra, Szentkút felé lekanyarodni, innen még kb. 5 kilométer a Kegyhely, végig kitáblázva. Salgótarján felől érkezve nem szükséges Mátraverebélyig elmenni, hanem a nagybátonyi elágazó utáni jobb kanyar végén jobbra kell elfordulni. Tábla is jelzi a Nagyboldogasszony Bazilikát.
