Monte Bondone is "the mountain" of Trento. It rises a few kilometers from the city and is divided into two subgroups: the northern one with Palón (2170 m), Doss d’Abramo (2140 m), Cornetto (2180 m), and the southern one that culminates in Stivo (2058 m). It is characterized by the Tre Cime Provincial Natural Reserve (1968), which stands as the backdrop to the vast meadow basin of the Viotte (Viote). The Reserve consists of a glacially shaped environment, covered by low spontaneous vegetation and isolated patches of forest (199.5 ha; 1580–2180 m above sea level). Its extension is identified within the pre-existing Monte Bondone State Forest, an area declared of exceptional vegetational interest (floral endemisms), faunal (pre-glacial insects), and geological («Naturalistic path»).
